So where are we?

In a country known as Junctus in the year 2063; well, it's not quite a country, more like a republic housing several independent, territorial government units known as strongholds (which are primarily based in its major cities). Technology has been progressing at a good pace; touchscreens are everywhere, the cloud is your friend, and the republic's military is testing flying vehicles and cyborg systems for their own use.

For those who are already familiar with AW, this chapter will focus on a different city known as Mira, located on the oceanic east coast of Junctus.  It is a metropolitan area known for being a hotbed of multiculturalism. Its temperate climate and unpredictable winds make it a hotbed for bad weather too, unfortunately. The city’s environmental record has also been ridiculed: its government has been slammed for continuing to allow outdated factories to pollute the air in the outskirts and industrial district, rather than embracing less harmful alternatives.

Of course, due to the historical abnormalities that created Junctus, clans and groups have displaced color, race, etc. as the primary trait that singles out individuals. However, in Mira, even that atmosphere is toned down: its people are more interested in just being with people with common interests and discovering other cultures, rather than being in a mafia that wages wars over who can make a better pizza. Hence, they're more like clubs ... in most cases. But the actual gangs are just as bad as ever; even worse, some of them are absolutely hostile to the presence of Nilexs. Somehow, they'd prefer locally-based chaos rather than "foreign" chaos.

So what's the story?

It all began in the city of Gatto, a city where violence from a group of mafia-like organizations was beginning to escalate. It's also where one Kairaxaius Ratio lives: after a series of events involving him that he has been afraid to discuss in the public eye for reasons unknown, in the year 2050 he was paired up with a woman who only called herself Panther to lead an organization known as the E.S.S. They were a specialized organization designed to bring in people willing to train and become what are essentially government assassins, while masquerading as just a well-organized, street gang as a cover.

Unfortunately, the clan was rather disorganized at first: it almost felt like a revolving door with so many recruits and staff members leaving and being replaced every so often. While his original goal was to hunt down the people he suspected were responsible for the event in 2049 (which he believed was a group known as Spectrum), his plans were forced to change after Novacon, a centralized military, alerted him to a group of clans which had a tight-knit and intensifying rivalry. Unfortunately, while things started to become more serious, the exploits of some other, unrelated forces that had nothing to do with these enemies, were also distracting his recruits.

Even worse, they were also beginning to spend too much time doing "investigations" ... at nightclubs. While there was a slight justification because one of these groups were literally anti-government ravers, the E.S.S. wasn't alone in its anti-professionalism. Pretty much the only clan that actually ended up becoming a legitimate threat was a startup known as Nilexs. Over the first few years of their operation, the E.S.S. underestimated them.

Eventually, it became clear that Nilexs was simply using the E.S.S. as a distraction. It also became clear that they knew what they were doing:  By the time the E.S.S. thought that they had "defeated" Nilexs, they found out that Nilexs had begun to set up shop in other cities, including one known as Mira; where their new presence has disturbed a group of locally-operated gangs as well, increasing the level of tension in its climate.

With that in mind, the 10-year anniversary of the formation of the E.S.S. was marked by the news that its main staff members would be leaving to Mira to form a new branch, known as Renegade_Dusk.

Renegade_Dusk’s mission is primarily to deal with Nilexs, an organization of hackers, assassins, and the like who know practically every single loophole possible to create discord out of nowhere, especially the ones that involve extorting funds from the government through rogue supply contracts.

However, they're not the only ones in this city: there are other enemy organizations here too, who don't quite seem to like the new competition Nilexs is bringing to the table. That alone is cause for major concerns around here. Who will end up stopping them is the real question. Or can they even be stopped at all?

What do you guys do?

Primarily art and roleplay. Of course, it's an RP group!

How do I join?

You need to create a character first. There are more details contained inside the Character Guidelines; it might look daunting, but its actually rather simple.

Where do I go from here...?
